The Original Cast Members of Dance Moms Are Busy Thriving — Find Out What They're Up To!

Dance Moms has returned for an eighth season with an all-new cast after season seven ended in October 2017. With the show's comeback, many fans are wondering what happened to the original members of Abby Lee Dance Company's elite team, including Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, Nia Sioux, Brooke and Paige Hyland, and Chloe Lukasiak.

Over the past few years, we've seen their careers take off, right around the same time dance teacher Abby Lee Miller landed herself in legal trouble for bank and customs fraud. The 52-year-old instructor ended up serving eight months in prison, and was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer after she was released. However, she's determined to make a comeback in the latest installment of Dance Moms after helping some members of the original young cast achieve stardom. So what have the original elite dancers been up to over the past few years? Keep reading to find out!

01

Brooke Hyland, 21

Brooke and her sister Paige had one of the more dramatic exits on Dance Moms after their mother Kelly got into a blow-out fight with Abby at the beginning of season four. But things seemed to slow down following her onscreen departure, and she was able to enjoy a normal life. Brooke is now a student at Ohio University, where she's studying marketing and management information systems.

02

Paige Hyland, 18

Like her sister, Paige has enjoyed a life out of the spotlight, but still reconnects with her Dance Moms costars. In January, she and Nia reunited in Hawaii for a sweet snapshot (which naturally sent fans of the show into a frenzy). This Fall, Paige will enroll at West Virginia University.

03

Chloe Lukasiak, 18

Chloe Lukasiak had a rough going on Dance Moms with her mom, Christi, often at odds with Abby. The mother-daughter duo left the show during season four (before making a surprise appearance in season seven), but Chloe went on to develop a flourishing career in modeling, acting, and writing. She's amassed an impressive repertoire of acting roles, starring in the series Welcome to My World and the films Center Stage: On Pointe, F.R.E.D.I., and Loophole.

Chloe also manages a successful YouTube channel, in which fans can follow along with her makeup tutorials, as well as other aspects of her life, including apartment hunting and reuniting with her Dance Moms squad. In 2017, she launched a clothing line, and the following year, she collaborated with JustFab.

Additionally, she released her book Girl on Pointe: Chloe's Guide to Taking on the World in 2018, which is totally on brand since she's such a big fan of books. She even runs her own book club in partnership with Girls Life magazine and provides fans with novel recommendations. This Fall, she'll be furthering her education at Pepperdine University.

04

Nia Sioux, 18

Nia has totally been slaying the game over the past few years (literally . . . check out her 2015 singles, "Slay" and "Star in Your Own Life"). In 2016, she was in the off-Broadway show Trip of Love and made her film debut in 2018's Runnin' From My Roots. She's starred in CBS's The Bold and the Beautiful since July 2018, and is currently filming for the upcoming sci-fi indie movie The Code.

During the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, Nia got the opportunity to travel there as a correspondent for NBC and video sharing app Musical.ly. In May, the dance star also made the exciting announcement that she'll be heading to UCLA by posting a snapshot of her alongside Michelle Obama, Lena Waithe, Elaine Welteroth, and Todd Krim at the former First Lady's National College Signing Day get-together. We know Dr. Holly is proud!

05

Maddie Ziegler, 16

Maddie found huge success through Dance Moms, notably starring in many of Sia's music videos. In January, she even revealed that Sia is officially her godmother. Over the past few years, she's been racking up quite a few acting credits with appearances in shows and films, such as Pretty Little Liars, Disney's Austin and Ally, and The Book of Henry. She's now gearing up to star in Sia's upcoming film Music with Kate Hudson and the 2020 remake of West Side Story with Ansel Elgort and Rita Moreno.

She's also dipped into the fashion scene with her eponymous clothing line, Maddie. Recently, she teamed up with Fabletics for a limited-edition collection of athleisure clothes.

But she certainly hasn't let go of her dance past. You can watch her as a featured performer in many of the viral dance studio videos, including one in which she breaks it down (in heels!) to Billie Eilish's "Bury a Friend."

06

Mackenzie Ziegler, 15

In case you were wondering, Mackenzie's hip-hop moves have gotten so much better. She was one of the best hip-hoppers on the team, but some of her recent videos prove that her ability to take on the edgier dance style has only improved. In 2018, she competed on ABC's Dancing With the Stars: Juniors and even made it to the finals. That same year, she released her book, Kenzie's Rules for Life: How to Be Happy, Healthy, and Dance to Your Own Beat.

She's also delved into the acting world, landing the lead role in the web series Total Eclipse and making an appearance on Nickelodeon's Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn. But every Dance Moms fan knows that Mackenzie's heart was also in singing, so thankfully, she's continued to pursue her career as a songstress. Her debut album Phases dropped in November 2018, and it even included a track written by Sia. This Summer, she'll be joining American-Canadian pop boy band PrettyMuch on tour.

Aside from the performing arts, Mackenzie has launched her own beauty line called Love, Kenzie, and partnered with the brand LoveJoy on a clothing collection. She's also a part of the YouTube vlogging world with over three million subscribers.

07

Vivi-Anne Stein, 14

Vivi-Anne had a brief stint as an ALDC dancer during the first season of Dance Moms. After her mother, Cathy, and Abby had creative differences, she went back to dancing for Cathy's own studio, Candy Apples Dance Center, and made many appearances on the show as a Candy Apple member. She's still performing at competitions, often sharing snapshots of her with fellow dancers on Instagram.

08

Kendall Vertes, 16

Alright, so Kendall isn't one of the original members, but she joined Dance Moms early on to replace Vivi-Anne on the elite team in season two. Earlier this year, she joined Nia and Kalani Hilliker on tour as "The Irreplaceables" — a reference to one of Abby's famed phrases, "Everyone's replaceable" — and traveled around Peru to perform dances.

Similar to her costars, she's gotten involved in the acting scene since leaving the Lifetime series. She was in 2018's Trico Tri: Happy Halloween, as well as this year's Rapunzel: A Princess Frozen in Time. She's also set to make onscreen appearances in Anastasia and Santa in Training later this year.

09

Kalani Hilliker, 18

Although Kalani also wasn't on the team at the start of the show, she quickly became an integral member of the squad during Dance Moms season four. Not only has she launched her own sock line, but she's also managed a YouTube vlog through which she gives fans life updates.

Kalani has also been in a few films and shows, including Swiped, Breaking Brooklyn, and Dirt. She'll be costarring alongside Mindy Robinson and Lewis Smith in the upcoming movie Adrenochrome II. But, don't worry, she's still dancing.

10

Brynn Rumfallo, 15

Brynn became an official member of the ALDC in season six, but left the following season after her mother, Ashley, spoke out about some of the dances being too provocative for teenage girls. Since then, Brynn joined the cheerleading squad at her school and often posts photos of herself traveling and hanging out with friends. She also appeared in a few episodes of the series Boss Cheer.

11

Jojo Siwa, 16

Jojo pretty much made an entire empire for herself after leaving Dance Moms during season six. She signed a deal with Nickelodeon and starred in her own show, The JoJo & BowBow Show Show. She's also on YouTube and recently documented her babysitting experience with Kim Kardashian's daughter, North West.

Jojo additionally manages a bow collection — her signature accessory — in partnership with Claire's. Currently, she's on a US musical tour titled D.R.E.A.M. The Tour.

12

Asia Monet Ray, 13

OK, I had to include Asia. I know, she only appeared in season three of Dance Moms, but she deserves an honorable mention. Since leaving the show, she's found success in music, often sharing videos of her dancing and showing off her amazing vocals. Fans have also kept up with her life through her YouTube channel, where she posts beauty content, workouts, Q&As, and more.

Over the years, she's accrued quite the acting resume with appearances in Grey's Anatomy, American Crime Story, and Major Crimes after starring on her own show, Raising Asia, in 2014.
