Believe It or Not, Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Have Been Together For Over a Decade

Believe it or not, Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome have been in a relationship for over a decade now, but you wouldn't know with how private they are about it. Though it's unclear when and how the two stars first met, one of the first confirmed reports of their romance came from Evening Standard in October 2018, when the outlet referred to Groome as Grint's "girlfriend of seven years." A month prior, the Daily Mail also ran a report on the couple's "on-off relationship" that it claims began in 2011.

Since then, Grint and Groome have only been seen out together a handful of times and only publicly shared the biggest milestones from their relationship — including the birth of their 2-year-old daughter, Wednesday, whom they welcomed in May 2020. Less than a month before then, a rep for Grint announced that the actor and his longtime girlfriend were expecting their first child together. This, of course, sent the internet into a frenzy for two reasons: one, most people still think of Grint as his famous Harry Potter character, Ron Weasley. And two, just as many people didn't realize Grint was dating the actor who played Georgia Nicolson from "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging."

Grint's claim to fame isn't only limited to his Harry Potter films. He's played a key role in Apple TV+ drama "Servant" for the past four seasons, and in October 2022, he appeared in Netflix's anthology horror series "Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities." Most recently, the actor starred in M. Night Shyamalan's latest blockbuster, "Knock at the Cabin." Meanwhile, Groome has acted in a handful of shorts, TV shows, and movies since starring in her Nickelodeon film.

Over the years, it seems Grint and Groome have worked overtime to keep their relationship under wraps but read ahead for everything we do know about their dating timeline.

2011: Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Start Dating

According to an October 2018 interview Grint did with Evening Standard, he and Groome started dating sometime in 2011, as the interviewer mentioned Grint's "girlfriend of seven years, actress Georgia Groome." For clarification, that means Grint and Groome likely got together around the time that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" was released and roughly three years after the premiere of "Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging."

March 2017: Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Have Date Night in LA

Apparently, the "on-again, off-again" couple took a break at some point, though it's unclear when or for how long. In March 2017, the Daily Mail reported the then-exes were seen having dinner at Craig's in West Hollywood. A little over a week later, Grint and Groome were seen together once again, this time in NYC's SoHo neighborhood.

January 2018: Georgia Groome Visits Rupert Grint on Set

When Grint was filming the second season of Crackle's crime-comedy series "Snatch" in Spain, the Daily Mail reported his "proud girlfriend" was there for a day watching her beau in action.

September 2018: Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Make a Rare Public Appearance

The notoriously elusive couple have been spotted out and about only a handful of times, but they made a rare red carpet appearance in September 2018 at the Dinard Festival of British Cinema in France, per the Daily Mail (though, predictably, they didn't pose for any pics together).

November 2018: The Internet Realizes That Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Are a Thing

Even after seven years of dating, a viral tweet proved that very few people had any idea that Grint and Groome's romantic relationship was a thing. In November 2018, a fan shared a throwback pic of the two stars looking cozy in a since-deleted tweet and wrote, "I was today years old when I found out Georgia from Angus, thongs and perfect snogging has been going out with Ron Weasley since 2011 ????" Considering the tweet got well over 20,000 likes and 5,000 retweets, that fan wasn't the only one surprised by the news.

December 2018: Rupert Grint Talks About Wanting to "Settle Down"

Soon after his 30th birthday, Grint revealed to The Guardian that he could see himself starting a family in the near future. "Turning 30 felt strange," he told the outlet. "It just doesn't feel like I'm there yet and I don't know what the future holds. I'm just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I'd like to settle down and have kids soon."

April 2019: Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Spark Marriage Rumors

While hanging out and getting lunch with two friends in London, Grint and Groome were photographed wearing matching wedding bands, according to Mirror — or so it appeared. Groome wore a gold band on that finger, but Grint's own band was worn on the middle finger of his right hand. A rep for the actor denied the possibility of a secret wedding.

April 2020: Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Announce That They're Expecting Their First Child

One year after Grint and Groome were suspected of having a secret wedding, the couple sparked even bigger news. Soon after Groome was seen strolling around London with Grint and a conspicuous baby bump, a rep for the couple confirmed to E! News that the two were expecting their first child. "Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are excited to announce they are expecting a baby and would please ask for privacy at this time," the rep's statement read.

May 2020: Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome Welcome Their Daughter

Less than a month after a rep for Grint and Groome confirmed the couple were expecting their first child, the latter gave birth to a baby girl. At the time, the couple didn't disclose their child's name, but Grint eventually shared it on Nov. 10, 2020, via an Instagram post. "Hey Instagram....only 10 years late, but here I am," he captioned a photo of him and his daughter. "Grint on the Gram! Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert."

January 2021: Rupert Grint Gives a Rare Update on His Relationship and Daughter

Grint and Groome have been notoriously private about their relationship, rarely even commenting on it in the press. But in January 2021, Glamour published an interview with Grint where he got candid about being a new dad and how his and Groome's relationship has lasted so long. "It's a very natural thing — we're just best friends," he told the outlet. "We're kind of the same person; we think the same way. That's always made it work — that's why it's lasted. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is, but it works and it's great."

January 2022: Rupert Grint Shares Why He Keeps His Relationship Private

In a January 2022 appearance on "The Tonight Show," Grint got candid about why he doesn't share photos of Groome on his Instagram. "Ultimately, I think it just doesn't go with my personality," he said to host Jimmy Fallon. "I'm quite a shy person, and the thought of kind of sharing my life just didn't seem like it would really fit."
