Dove Cameron is in the midst of a very fruitful moment in her career — though she has been in one for a while, and she doesn't seem to be slowing down. She's currently starring in the musical parody "Schmigadoon!" and she also has a successful music career, with a full-length album set to drop sometime in 2023. She also frequently gives fans beauty moments to admire, from her growing collection of tiny tattoos to a multitude of dramatic hair changes.

Over the years, she's been open about her personal life as well. She came out as queer in 2020, sharing that she's "super queer" and that her sexuality is "something I want to represent through my music because it's who I am" in an Instagram Live. Since then, she's continued to voice support for the queer community while featuring queer relationships in her videos and performances.

As for her relationships, though, she's kept that part of her life fairly quiet in the years since the end of her last high-profile romance. Until 2020, Cameron dated her "Descendants" costar Thomas Doherty, but that relationship wasn't he first time Cameron has been linked to a Disney costar. In fact, the actor's public relationships have only been with costars so far. Since she first debuted on our screens on the Disney Channel sitcom "Liv and Maddie" in 2013, Cameron's love life has gotten plenty of attention from her fans, but it actually hasn't been all that dramatic. Keep reading to find out more about her relationships over the years.

Ryan McCartan

McCartan and Cameron met on the set of her Disney Channel breakout show "Liv and Maddie," where their onscreen romance became an offscreen one in 2013. The couple became engaged in April 2016, then broke it off less than six months later.

"Dove has decided this relationship isn't what she wants. We still love each other very much. Please be sensitive, as this is painful," McCartan tweeted at the time. In a 2019 interview with Seventeen, Cameron reflected on how hard it was to try to be picture-perfect in the relationship at all times — she was only 20 at the time, and McCartan only 22.

"It was my first ever real relationship, and it was on-screen and off-screen," she explained. "A lot of what I went through in that first relationship, the very low-lows, I did not make public. I was under the impression that I had to make everything look perfect all the time and my partner definitely put that in my ear. People thought I was sharing loads, but I hardly shared anything."

Since their split, McCartan has moved into stage work more. He starred in the off-Broadway run of the cult-fave musical "Heathers" back in 2014, and from Summer 2018 to Summer 2019, he played Fiyero in the Broadway company of "Wicked."

After McCartan, Cameron dated another costar whom she also met on the set of a Disney project. Doherty joined the "Descendants" franchise for the 2017 sequel, playing Harry Hook, and he and Cameron hit it off very quickly. "He told me he loved me within a week of meeting me, and has never taken a step back from that statement," Cameron told Seventeen in 2019.

"My relationship with Thomas has been different than anything I've ever experienced with another human right from the very start," she continued. "I know this is cheesy, but honestly, right from the moment we met, it felt like the earth moved, for both of us . . . I've never experienced an equality like we have, a real admission of who and what we are together and the guttural knowing that this is right."

Unfortunately, the pair split in October 2020. "Hi all, we know there have been some rumors and confusion lately about the status of our relationship and we wanted to set the record straight," Cameron shared in an Instagram story in December of that year. "In October, Thomas and I decided to part ways. The decision was incredibly difficult, but we still have love for each other, and will remain friends."
