Eminem's Depressing Music Video For "River" Would Make Even Cupid Stop Believing in Love

The day after Eminem shared a gritty teaser for his "River" music video with Ed Sheeran, which promised fans an "Unhappy Valentine's Day," we have the full-length clip to enjoy. But you know what, "enjoy" might not be the right word here.

Eminem and Sheeran clearly aren't fans of Valentine's Day, because the depressing musical accompaniment for their song follows a couple in an abusive relationship, and also features confessional-style interviews from the two musicians. "If you don't have the trust element, you're f*cked," Sheeran says, before Eminem declares that his "personal life is not exactly a highlight reel." Where's Cupid when you need him, right?

Despite the, uh, interesting creative choice for "River," both artists have been busy lately. Eminem is ready to drop his new album, and he tugged at everyone's heartstrings when he performed "Walk on Water" on the MTV EMAs stage last November. As for Sheeran, he's reportedly been asked to perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming wedding, and he himself recently got engaged to his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn. We can only assume they have plenty of the "trust element" in their relationship.
