BBC's marketing team is really going for it with the Killing Eve promotions, you guys. The broadcaster just released a spoof trailer that reimagines the thriller series as a cheesy romantic comedy story between Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) — and it's quite the wild ride. The video highlights familiar scenes from the show's first and second seasons — Eve and Villanelle meeting in the hospital bathroom, the two women eating shepherd's pie together, and Eve stabbing Villanelle in her Paris apartment — all while corny, upbeat music plays in the background to lighten the mood. The results are both eerie and intriguing, just like the show itself.
Although Killing Eve centers on the mutual, undeniable obsession that develops between Eve, an intelligence officer, and Villanelle, a psychopathic assassin, the two characters are entangled in a complex cat-and-mouse-style relationship riddled with sexual tension that doesn't come to fruition — not yet, at least. Watch the creepily chipper trailer above, and it'll definitely make you even more excited to see where Eve and Villanelle's story goes next in season three.
