This Year, the Grammys Will Pay Special Tribute to the Las Vegas Shooting Victims

On Thursday, CBS made a special announcement about this year's Grammy Awards. In addition to the myriad performers that have already been slated for the show, one special tribute will reunite Maren Morris, Eric Church, and the Brothers Osborne. These performers were all brought together to perform at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas this past October. Unfortunately, the festival took a tragic turn when a gunman opened fire on the crowd, killing 59 people and injuring more than 500.

The three artists will come together and perform a special tribute to those who lost their lives in the horrifying mass shooting. "Live music events have always provided a safe space for fans to gather in a shared celebration of music. Sadly, that wasn't always the case this past year," Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said in an official statement to POPSUGAR. "We believe it's incredibly important to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in these senseless tragedies, and to remind musicians and music lovers alike that live music will continue to be a powerful force that unites us all . . . We didn't feel like we'd be doing our jobs if we didn't reflect on these tremendous losses."

The Grammys will air on Jan. 28 on CBS, and we'll get to see how all the nominees fare in a competitive year filled with quite a few snubs. All things considered, it's vital that the ceremony reflect back on the heartbreaking year we've had.
