If you need a major dose of girl power in your life, then you're in luck. Netflix just dropped a new rom-com Someone Great, and if you haven't seen it yet, "great" doesn't begin to describe how fun this movie is. Starring Jane the Virgin's Gina Rodriguez, Pitch Perfect's Brittany Snow, and She's Gotta Have It's DeWanda Wise, the comedy tells the story of aspiring music journalist Jenny (played by Rodriguez), whose boyfriend of nine years unceremoniously dumps her as soon as she lands her dream job in San Francisco because he's not willing to make long distance work. However, her two BFFs, Blair and Erin (played by Snow and Wise, respectively), are there to help her get over her ex and give her one last crazy weekend in New York City before she moves across the country. Yes, ladies!

On top of plenty of reasons to laugh AND cry, this flick boasts a killer soundtrack. Particularly, the song that's featured both in the film's trailer as well as a cathartic, extended dance sequence in the kitchen between Jenny and Erin that kicks off with, "Why men great till they gotta be great?" The track is by the fabulous Lizzo, a rapper, singer, and classically trained flautist from Minneapolis who released her debut album, Lizzobangers, in 2013, which was followed by Big Grrrl Small World in 2015 and 2019's Cuz I Love You.

One of her best gifts to the world, however, is definitely her 2017 single (and the best single-girl anthem since Beyoncé's "Single Ladies"), "Truth Hurts."

In the music video, Lizzo is seen marrying herself in a praiseworthy ode to self-love. "You're 'posed to hold me down / But you're holding me back / And that's the sound of me not calling you back," she raps, standing on her own in a wedding dress. Later, she declares, "I put the sing in single / Ain't worried 'bout a ring on my finger."

We couldn't think of a better sentiment to complement Someone Great. After all, relationships come and go, but your dream job at Rolling Stone might only come around once!

Though Lizzo's third album, Cuz I Love You, hit shelves on April 19, we've already been jamming out to her latest singles like "Juice" and the title song, "Cuz I Love You." And even more coincidental? Someone Great became available to stream on Netflix the exact same day Lizzo's new album dropped! Suddenly April is our favorite month.
