When it was revealed that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story would be a prequel to A New Hope, we were confused. How could filmmakers present an entirely new cast of characters, let alone Rebel fighters, we hadn't already heard of? Who is this Jyn Erso, and how would they get away with creating someone so vital who would inexplicably never show up in any of the following films? The internet at large theorized that this cast of heroes would logically have to die. Now that the movie is out, we can — seriously, spoiler alert — confirm that that is exactly what happens.
