Grey's Anatomy: A Bleak Relationship Status Update After the Premiere

In the premiere, Riggs is still coming on pretty strong, but Meredith is holding on to some crucial information: that her sister Maggie likes him too. Meredith pumps the brakes, refusing to engage for most of the episode. Will they continue their steamy hookups, or will Mer just let things cool?

Man, is this situation f*cked. Maggie finds out Meredith lied to her about Alex, and then she makes Meredith promise to never lie to her again. Meredith agrees, but the thing is, she's already lying to Maggie again . . . about Riggs. So, sh*t will definitely hit the fan at some point.

These two could not be further from happening at this point. In the wake of DeLuca's trauma, Riggs encourages Maggie to get back together with him, because he's a good guy and she "won't do much better." Maggie takes it as a sign that Riggs is clearly not interested in her, so it seems like she's on the verge of giving up.

It's hard not to be content: they've got a beautiful, healthy baby between the two of them. It's unclear at this point if April and Jackson have any sort of love current running between them, but they definitely have a lot of love for their little baby.

It's kind of hard to bounce back from this one, you know? Not only did Alex fly off the handle and beat the living daylights out of DeLuca, but Jo still won't tell him her secret. What's more, Alex says a bunch of awful things about Jo's homeless past that he really can't take back.

After more than a decade, it makes sense that Alex and Meredith are so tight-knit. Of course Meredith is on his side. It's nice to see that their commiseration is active to a fault, too. Meredith ends up telling Bailey about Alex's involvement just as he confesses to the police. They're definitely on the same wavelength.

DeLuca is so broken by Alex's violence, it's at PTSD levels. He can't even be in the same room as Alex without freaking out. At this point, it's like, will they ever be able to be near each other again?

Hey, at least Ben and Bailey are sleeping in the same bed again, right?

In this bleak, bleak world, at least we know one couple is happy. Or, at least, we hope they are! They just got married, after all.
