World War II Comes to Life in the Terrifying Trailer For Netflix's "All the Light We Cannot See"

Netflix's "All the Light We Cannot See," based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, is heading to the streamer this fall. On April 18, Netflix released a teaser trailer, which announced the new miniseries's November release date, as well as first-look images. The series stars newcomer Aria Mia Loberti as Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind girl living in Paris with her father, Daniel, played by Mark Ruffalo. During WWII, the pair must flee Paris with a valuable diamond they don't want to fall into Nazi hands. They land at the house of Marie-Laure's great uncle Etienne (played by Hugh Laurie) in Saint-Malo, where they try to evade the Nazis.

Marie-Laure's story starts to intersect with that of Werner (Louis Hofmann), a German teen who's ordered to use his radio skills to find illegal broadcasts so the Nazis can stop them. Marie-Laure and Werner's stories come to an explosive end with tragic consequences for both. Netflix released the full trailer for the TV adaptation on Oct. 3, and it dives into Marie-Laure and Werner's stories and how the radio ultimately brings them together in a time of darkness and despair.

Doerr's novel was published in 2014 and became a critical and commercial success. It was on the New York Times bestseller list for 200 weeks and won the Pulitzer Prize For Fiction in 2015. Filming of the miniseries took place in 2022 in Budapest and France, including the real Saint-Malo.
