In this 1988 classic, Bruce Willis stars as John McClane, a New York City Police Department detective who travels to LA to reconcile with his estranged wife. On his way to meet his wife at a Christmas party, the party is taken over by a ruthless terrorist leader named Hans Gruber, who is set on stealing $640 million worth of bonds. After the attendees are taken hostage, McClane slips away and works with the LAPD to bring the group of terrorists to justice.

In the aftermath of their mother's death, brothers Toby and Tanner Howard (Chris Pine and Ben Foster, respectively) are desperate to save their family ranch, which has fallen into debt. Each day, Roy gets closer and closer to breaking the cycle, and he discovers that the key to escaping the loop could be through his ex-wife and son.

A modern take on the original "Planet of the Apes" film series, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" centers around Caesar (Andy Serkis), an ape that has developed human-like intelligence and emotions by taking the drug ALZ-112, which has been provided to him by chemist Will Rodman (James Franco), who has raised Caesar since his infancy. But things go awry when Caesar is taken to an ape shelter for injuring another person. Angered at his situation, Caesar gives other apes at the shelter ALZ-112 and assembles an army to overtake humanity.

Based on the 2009 book "Horse Soldiers" by Doug Stanton, "12 Strong" follows a group of US Special Forces soldiers who are immediately sent to Afghanistan in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks. Upon arrival, the group, ODA 595, splits into two, with one group staying on base and the other venturing to the northern mountains on horses. With the help of Afghanistan's Northern Alliance, the 595 fight to take down the Taliban before the terrorist organization spreads more violence.
