TV Line reports that two characters from DJ's younger years are slated to return in season two: Nelson Burkhard (DJ's wealthy ex-boyfriend) and Kathy Santoni (a snooty frenemy from DJ's high school). DJ will encounter these blasts from her past at a high school reunion, where Nelson will still be obnoxious and full of himself as always and a now-pregnant Kathy will continue to hit DJ with a whole bunch of snide comments. The characters were originally played by Jason Marsden and Anne Marie McEvoy, but since Marsden wasn't interested in being on the reboot, Hal Sparks has been cast in his role. Netflix is also recasting Kathy Santoni, but we don't know who will be taking over the part.
