Glenn moved to Georgia in his early 20s and his job as a pizza delivery boy helped him become familiarized with the layout of the Atlanta. This comes in handy after the city is overcome by walkers and he has to go on runs for food, water, and medicine.

Ed Peletier was a charming man when Carol first met him. She fell in love and eventually married him. In 2003, she gave birth to their daughter, Sophia, and shortly after, he began to abuse her. Ed's constant physical abuse caused her shoulder to be dislocated several times. Ashamed of her marriage and failed attempts to escape, Carol found a sense of community with an online group of women who were also victims of domestic violence and too afraid to leave their abusers.

Life was not always a fairy tale for Maggie. After the death of her mother, Patricia, Maggie struggled to accept Hershel's new wife, Annette, and her step-brother, Shawn, as her own. She considered rebelling by doing drugs and shoplifting but eventually came around to loving her blended family in the end. Maggie graduated high school and attended college, but it's unknown if the outbreak disrupted the completion of her undergrad studies.

As an openly gay kid from Washington DC, Aaron was bullied by his classmates and forced to partake in conversion therapy by his mother, an attempt to cure his homosexuality. In his adult life, Aaron entered into politics but later discovered his true passion for humanitarian service. He became a part of a nongovernment organization that helped give back to in-need communities in West Africa. It was there that he met his boyfriend, Eric, while bonding over their philanthropic work together.

Abraham Ford

Prior to kicking serious zombie ass, Abraham served as a sergeant in the US military. His traumatic experience there brought on post-traumatic stress disorder. His aggressive behavior and sporadic outbursts affected his relationship with his wife, Ellen, and two children, A.J. and Becca. Abraham lived with his family in Houston until the outbreak occurred and they were tragically killed on the road by walkers.

Before she was a sword-swinging badass, Michonne was a mom to a 3-year-old named Andre and lived in Atlanta with her then-boyfriend Mike. Michonne was also an avid art collector along with Mike and his best friend, Terry. The two armless walkers who appear at the end of season two are both Mike and Terry; Michonne amputated and kept their arms after they turned into zombies.

Sasha resided in Jacksonville, FL, and was working as firefighter before the outbreak invaded her home state. She and her older brother Tyrese were raised by their father, a single parent who was a war veteran.

Daryl learned viable survival skills when he found himself lost in the woods as a child for several days. His father was an alcoholic and physically abusive to both him and his older brother, Merle. His mother died early on in a house fire she caused when she accidentally fell asleep with a lit cigarette in her hand. After the death of their father, Daryl joined Merle and traveled with him making various drug deals.

In his early 20s, Rick became a deputy at the King County Sheriff's Department with his childhood best friend, Shane Walsh. A few years later, he met Lori and quickly found romance with her. The happy couple were married and had a son together when they began to experience marital woes prompted by Rick's inability to express himself. Rick and Lori's issues came to a head when she started to question if Rick wanted to be in her and Carl's life anymore just before the apocalypse began.
