She's Incredibly Selfish
It seems like Meredith just hates people. She consistently pushes folks away when she doesn't want to deal with them (think back to her leaving for an entire year after Derek died), and then sucks them in when she does. Meredith does things solely in her own best interest. The whole Riggs-Maggie triangle is proof enough of that.
