Someone hand Jerrika Hinton an Emmy already! "Ring of Fire" marks Hinton's final episode on Grey's Anatomy (for now, maybe). Wow, what an exit. Rather than give Stephanie Edwards a soppy, maudlin whimper of an exit, Grey's Anatomy producers created one of the most stressful and epic episodes of all time. Somehow, Stephanie magically remains calm and focused.
Let's pick up from the previous episode: Stephanie survives the explosion set off by a rapist, who, engulfed in fire, approaches a flammable tank. She's still with the little girl, Erin, from the last episode and manages to treat her leg while the room continues to be engulfed in flames. After Stephanie literally walks through fire, they make it out to the stairwell and get to the roof. One problem: Stephanie doesn't have her badge. But then, the astute Grey Sloan resident spots her badge down the stairs. Another problem, though: while the pair successfully reach the roof, Erin passes out. Luckily, Ben finds them just in the nick of time. At the end of the episode, Stephanie tearfully thanks Dr. Webber for teaching her. She tells him that she's quitting to spend her life outside of the hospital. After surviving a situation like that, Stephanie should feel free to do anything.
