You Season 2 Is About to Hit Netflix, So You'd Better Brush Up on Season 1's Grisly End

At the conclusion of his murderous run in season one, Joe kills Beck and accuses Dr. Nicky of the crime after publishing her essay — but trouble might be ahead for the bookstore owner/creeper. In the final moments of the season, we see him enamored with a new woman. It's an eerie scene, given that that's exactly how the season starts when he first sees Beck. It turns out this woman is no stranger: it's his ex Candace, alive and well, and she needs to talk.

The entire first season revolves around watching Joe get way with stalking and dangerously obsessing over Beck. All of us watching were praying that she would realize the truth about Joe, and at the end of the season, it finally happens. She discovers he isn't the man she thinks he is after finding his creepy mementos stashed in the bathroom, but by then, it's too late. He traps her in his basement box, and though we don't see it happen, it's heavily implied that Joe murders Beck. Her writing is published posthumously and she does become a famous writer — she just isn't alive to enjoy it.

Candace's character has been a mystery ever since we're first introduced to her. We know she is Joe's ex-girlfriend and allegedly moves to Italy after they break up, but it's sketchy. At first, it seems like she might be dead, though we never see her get killed. Then, in the final moments of the season finale, Candace shows up at Joe's bookstore, saying they have some "unfinished business to talk about." Could it be about how Joe killed her other boyfriend, Elijah?

Love her or hate her, Peach is one of a kind — or at least she is before Joe kills her. Peach is Beck's best friend, and an early skeptic of Joe's affection. A few episodes into season one, it's revealed that Peach is also unhealthily obsessed with Beck. Joe doesn't like this love triangle and the drama ultimately leads to a showdown between him and Peach at her house in Connecticut. After Joe kills Peach, he has Beck all to himself.

Things aren''t looking so good for Dr. Nicky by the end of season one. He starts out as Beck's therapist, but their relationship soon turns sexual. Joe has trust issues with him from the get-go, and doesn't want Beck around him. Of course, Joe ends up as one of Dr. Nicky's patients in an attempt to get his enemies close. At the end of the season, Joe frames Dr. Nicky for Beck's death.

Throughout season one, Joe seems like a genuinely good guy when he's around Paco. He really cares for the kid and even kills Paco's abusive father to protect him. Paco trusts Joe so much that he doesn't even help Beck when she is trapped in the basement. It's eerie that he knows Joe has killed two people, and maybe season two will show us the emotional impact this has on him. Then again, the season two trailer shows Joe moving to Los Angeles, so it's unlikely Paco will be a part of the new episodes.

Benji is Beck's on again, off again boyfriend. Joe sees him as competition and kidnaps Benji (naturally). Throughout the episodes, Beck is really confused as to why he suddenly ghosts her. Locked in the bookstore basement for days, Joe ends up killing Benji — he's the season's first casualty — and lies to Beck about his whereabouts until the finale.
