We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
The Haunting of Hill House is an adaptation of Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name, but it isn't her only eerie offering. Unlike Hill House, there's nothing supernatural about We Have Always Lived in the Castle, which is about two sisters who have become outcasts in their town due to a previous incident at their home that left half of their family poisoned to death. The book is rife with all the family drama one can expect from a season of the Haunting series. It also includes nods to an everyday evil as well as the stereotypical closed-mindedness of those in a small town. All we know is that Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti would make an excellent Constance and Mary Katherine "Merricat" Blackwood.
