Nathaniel Hawthorne may be best known for The Scarlet Letter, but The House of the Seven Gables would make for a much more compelling season three of the Haunting series. It really has it all: romance, a supposed murder, family drama, accusations of witchcraft, and a secret heir. The plot involves a curse that Matthew Maule places on Colonel Pyncheon for stealing his land, a curse that threatens to affect the colonel's descendants. Time passes and the house goes to the destitute Hepzibah Pyncheon, who looks after her brother who has just completed a 30-year prison sentence for murder. It's up to Hepzibah and her cousin Phoebe to try to rid the family of the curse. Plus, Seven Gables has a rather large ensemble of characters, so favorites like Henry Thomas and Carla Gugino could find a way to make an appearance.
