Casalegno plays the role of Jeremiah in the YA Prime Video series. After years of watching Belly pine after his older brother, Jeremiah gets tired of pushing his feelings for her away. Popular and outspoken, Casalegno's character isn't afraid to speak his mind.
Casalegno got his start with films like 2014's "Noah" and most recently starred in "Walker" as Trevor Strand. Casalegno told POPSUGAR in June 2022 that Jeremiah is "so similar" to who he is in real life. "I actually told Jenny [Han] this the first time [I met] her. I was like, 'Did you talk to my mom or something? How? Did you read my diary? What's going on?'" he said.
In the show, Jeremiah is bisexual, a major change from the book. "He's exploring his identity and who he is, his sexuality, his relationships," Casalegno said. "There's just so much to be explored, and I feel like that was just a very fun part to really bring to life that would make the series more up to date and more relatable to today's world."
