Sex Education Season 3 Is Coming Soon — Here's What We Know

Sex Education is finally returning to our screens, and at last we have an official release date. The second season ends with a major cliffhanger — Otis (played by Asa Butterfield) confessing his love for Maeve (played by Emma Mackey) with a disappointing turn of events — so viewers have been eager to find out what happens next. Back in 2020, Netflix announced that a third season was in fact in the cards, with the help of a charming recap presented by Principle Groff (aka Alistair Petrie).

Now, it's been confirmed that season three will land on our screens on Sept. 17 this year, and we've even been treated to some sneak peeks of what it'll look like. According to Netflix, a number of new characters will be introduced — including a new headmistress named Hope, played by Jemima Kirke; a new student named Cal, played by Dua Saleh; and Groff's older (and more successful) brother, played by Jason Isaacs.

In a synopsis about the upcoming series, Netflix said, "It's a new year, Otis is having casual sex, Eric and Adam are official, and Jean has a baby on the way. Meanwhile, new headteacher Hope (played by Jemima Kirke) tries to return Moordale to a pillar of excellence, Aimee discovers feminism, Jackson gets a crush and a lost voicemail still looms. Prepare for commitment animals, alien phenomena, vulva cupcakes and much more of Madam Groff."

Sex Education season three lands on Netflix on Sept. 17.
