Taylor Swift's New "Lavender Haze" Video Will Leave You Mesmerized

It was way back in October 2022 when Taylor Swift teased that she'd be dropping several music videos alongside her latest hit album "Midnights," and her visuals for her lead single "Anti-Hero" and follow-up "Bejeweled" arrived soon after. Now, three months later, we're finally getting more "Midnights" music video goodness with a visual for Swift's second single, "Lavender Haze," which dropped on Jan. 27.

Swift's "Anti-Hero" video kicked off the first of many off her "Midnights" album on Oct. 21, just hours after the project was released. And since there are two iconic blondes with a deep connection to midnight — Cinderella and Taylor Swift — it makes sense that the second music video off of "Midnights," which dropped on Oct. 25, was a Cinderella-themed story for her song "Bejeweled."

Both "Anti-Hero" and "Bejeweled"'s releases were marked on the schedule Swift shared with fans on social media before "Midnights" dropped, but it was never made clear when the rest of her videos would arrive.

Swift announced that she was releasing a series of "Midnights music movies" in a teaser released during Prime Video's Oct. 20 Thursday Night Football stream. For the visuals — which feature cameos with Laura Dern, Dita Von Teese, frequent collaborators Jack Antonoff and the Haim sisters, and more — she worked with cinematographer Rina Yang (who also worked with her on the "All Too Well" short film).

"Here's the teaser trailer for the videos I've made for Midnights 🌌 Thank you @amazonmusic for premiering this," Swift wrote alongside a teaser trailer for the visual album she posted to Twitter. We still don't know exactly how many more videos there will be so fans will just have to wait and see.

Taylor Swift's "Lavender Haze" Music Video

Swift released the music video for "Lavender Haze," the official second single off "Midnights," on Jan. 27. The video sees Swift sharing private moments with her lover (played by model and trans activist Laith Ashley) as a mystical lavender haze surrounds them. By the end of the video, however, she's out dancing at a retro dance club with him before she wakes up in her bedroom as fish swim through space outside her window. "This was the first video I wrote out of the 3 that have been released," Swift wrote about the concept of the video on Twitter. "And this one really helped me conceptualize the world and mood of Midnights, like a sultry sleepless 70's fever dream."

Taylor Swift's "Lavender Haze" Lyrics

INTRO
Meet me at midnight
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

VERSE 1
Staring at the ceiling with you
Oh, you don't ever say too much
And you don't really read into
My melancholia

PRE-CHORUS
I've been under scrutiny (yeah, oh yeah)
You handle it beautifully (yeah, oh yeah)
All this sh*t is new to me (yeah, oh yeah)

CHORUS
I feel a lavender haze creeping up on me
So real, I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal, the 1950s sh*t they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
(Ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

VERSE 2
All they keep asking me (all they keep asking me)
Is if I'm gonna be your bride
The only kind of girl they see (the only kind of girl they see)
Is a one night or a wife

PRE-CHORUS
I find it dizzying (yeah, oh yeah)
They're bringing up my history (yeah, oh yeah)
But you aren't even listening (yeah, oh yeah)

CHORUS
I feel a lavender haze creeping up on me
So real, I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal, the 1950s sh*t they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
(ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

BRIDGE
That lavender haze
Talk your talk and go viral
I just need this love spiral
Get it off your chest
Get it off my desk (get it off my desk)

Talk your talk and go viral
I just need this love spiral
Get it off your chest
Get it off my desk

CHORUS
I feel (I feel) a lavender haze creeping up on me
So real, I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal (no deal), the 1950s sh*t they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
(Ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

OUTRO
Get it off your chest
Get it off my desk
That lavender haze
I just wanna stay
I just wanna stay
In that lavender haze

Taylor Swift's "Bejeweled" Music Video

Swift released the second music video for "Midnights," "Bejeweled," at midnight on Oct. 25. She talked about the video during an appearance on "The Tonight Show" the same night. She explained to Jimmy Fallon that she sees the video as "a little twist" on the classic Cinderella story. She also told the host that the video has a "psychotic amount" of Easter eggs. The video, which imagines the prince's ball as a talent show with a major prize, also stars the Haim sisters, Laura Dern, Dita Von Teese, Jack Antonoff, and Pat McGrath, and sees Swift try her hand at burlesque.

Taylor Swift's "Bejeweled" Lyrics

VERSE 1
Baby love, I think I've been a little too kind
Didn't notice you walkin' all over my peace of mind
In the shoes I gave you as a present
Puttin' someone first only works when you're in their top five
And by the way, I'm goin' out tonight

CHORUS
Best believe I'm still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer
And when I meet the band
They ask, "Do you have a man?"
I could still say, "I don't remember"
Familiarity breeds contempt
Don't put mе in the basement
Whеn I want the penthouse of your heart
Diamonds in my eyes
I polish up real, I polish up real nice

POST-CHORUS
Nice

VERSE 2
Baby boy, I think I've been too good of a girl (Too good of a girl)
Did all the extra credit, then got graded on a curve
I think it's time to teach some lessons
I made you my world (Huh), have you heard? (Huh)
I can reclaim the land
And I miss you (Miss you)
But I miss sparklin' (Nice)

CHORUS
Best believe I'm still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer
And when I meet the band
They ask, "Do you have a man?"
I could still say, "I don't remember"
Familiarity breeds contempt
Don't put mе in the basement
Whеn I want the penthouse of your heart
Diamonds in my eyes
I polish up real, I polish up real nice

POST-CHORUS
Nice

BRIDGE
Sapphire tears on my face
Sadness became my whole sky
But some guy said my aura's moonstone
Just 'cause he was high
And we're dancin' all night
And you can try to change my mind
But you might have to wait in line
What's a girl gonna do?
A diamond's gotta shine

CHORUS
Best believe I'm still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer (Shimmer)
And when I meet the band
They ask, "Do you have a man?"
I could still say, "I don't remember"
Familiarity breeds contempt
Don't put me in the basement
When I want the penthouse of your heart
Diamonds in my eyes
I polish up real (Nice), I polish up real nice

OUTRO
And we're dancin' all night
And you can try to change my mind
But you might have to wait in line
What's a girl gonna do? What's a girl gonna do?
I polish up nice
Best believe I'm still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer

Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" Music Video

According to Swift, "Anti-Hero," track three on "Midnights," is "one of my favorite songs I've ever written." In an Instagram video posted on Oct. 3, she explained the meaning behind the song and how personal it is.

"I really don't think I've delved this far into my insecurities in this detail before," she said. "I struggle a lot with the idea that my life has become unmanageably sized. Not to sound too dark, but I struggle with the idea of not feeling like a person." Swift described the song as a "guided tour" about "all the things she tends to hate about [herself]." "It's all of those aspects of the things we dislike and like about ourselves that we have to come to terms with if we're going to be this person," she added. "I like 'Anti-Hero' a lot because I think it's really honest."

Similarly, Swift's "Anti-Hero" video re-creates the singer's struggles, like in one scene where a giant version of herself crawls through a miniature room and eats miniature food off the table using tiny silverware. The scene is a very literal reflection of Swift feeling like she has an "unmanageably sized" life.

Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" Lyrics

VERSE 1
I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift
All of the people I've ghosted stand there in the room

I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices and vices, I end up in crisis
(Tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
'Cause you got tired of my scheming
(for the last time)

CHORUS
It's me
Hi
I'm the problem, it's me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

VERSE 2
Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby
And I'm a monster on the hill
Too big to hang out
Slowly lurching toward your favorite city
Pierced through the heart but never killed

Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism like some kind of congressman
(Tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I'll watch as you're leaving
And life will lose all its meaning
(for the last time)

CHORUS
It's me
Hi
I'm the problem, it's me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

BRIDGE
I have this dream my daughter-in-law kills me for the money
She thinks I left them in the will
The family gathers 'round and reads it
And then someone screams out
"She's laughing up at us from hell!"

OUTRO
It's me
Hi
I'm the problem, it's me
It's me
Hi
I'm the problem, it's me
It's me
Hi
Everybody agrees
Everybody agrees

CHORUS
It's me
Hi
I'm the problem, it's me (I'm the problem, it's me)
At teatime (teatime)
Everybody agrees (Everybody agrees)
I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
