The arrival of warm weather means we can all finally play outside again, but with it comes the downside of bugs and mosquitos (and harmful sun rays!). While it's easy to find a spray that keeps bugs away, it's extremely difficult to parse ingredient lists and find one that is safe for children (and even adults). Most repellents contain DEET, an effective yet highly toxic chemical that can cause rashes, headaches, seizures, and other conditions. Luckily, you don't need to sacrifice your children's health to protect them from pesky critters.
Read ahead to learn more about a bunch of sprays (and some wristbands!) that safely protect your little ones from bug bites. And for you DIYers, we even have one repellent you can make with a few easy-to-find ingredients. For tips on applying repellent safely and effectively, check out the Environmental Protection Agency's website.
