Here's Exactly How to Save Money on Your Family Disneyland Trip in 2020

Once you book your tickets, the price you paid is locked in, so you won't be bothered by those pesky price increases that can happen during the year at Disneyland. We recommend booking park tickets when you book your hotel or flight to guarantee the best price.

If you're planning on going to the Disneyland Resort with your kids before June 2020, a discounted ticket for children ages 3 to 9 is available. A three-day, one-park-per-day ticket costs $199, and Park Hopper add-ons are an option. This discounted ticket is available through May 18, 2020, and you can use them until May 21, 2020.

The easiest way to save money on a Disneyland vacation is to stay at a Good Neighbor hotel. These hotels can be as close as across the street, as with the Howard Johnson Anaheim Hotel, or about a 10-minute walk, as with the Homewood Suites by the Anaheim Convention Center. Many of the Good Neighbor hotels offer package deals for rooms and tickets, along with free continental breakfasts.

Historically, Disneyland's Good Neighbor hotels have offered a deal that lets you book three nights and get a fourth night free throughout the year. While this deal is not currently advertised on the Disneyland website, it could be added at any time! It's also a good idea to call the hotel you'd like to stay at to see if they are offering any deals that are not available online, such as a free fourth night.

Disneyland Passholders typically get the best discounts at the three Disneyland Resort hotels. To find out what deals are going on, go to the offers and discounts page on the Disneyland website. Most of the time, Passholders can save up to 25 percent on rooms during nonpeak seasons.

Now through May 18, 2020, Southern California residents can grab a special Disneyland ticket deal. The three-day, one-park-per-day ticket costs $199, and is the same price for adults and children. The best part is that these tickets can be used on three nonconsecutive days before May 21, 2020.

Active and retired military members can get great deals on three- and four-day tickets to the two Disneyland Resort theme parks. Three-day tickets cost $184 and four-day tickets are $204. The tickets can only be purchased at US military sales outlets now through December 18, 2020, and they can't be used from April 5 through April 12, 2020.

Disney's MaxPass service is a way to get FastPass options and reservations right from your mobile device. While it's convenient for making plans for the day at both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, at $20 per day for each person, it's also pretty expensive. Instead, get your FastPasses the old-fashioned way, by grabbing paper slips at the front entrance of the attraction. It's still free for all park guests, and it'll add up to major savings.

Renting Disney Vacation Club points has become more and more popular over the years. Currently, the only resort at Disneyland that is part of the DVC portfolio is Disney's Grand Californian Resort & Spa. Renting points can have its challenges, especially since room availability at the resort can be scarce, but it's worth a shot if you're looking for a cheaper stay at an official Disney hotel.
