The PTA can be a wonderful place. As an organization, it's tasked with raising money to support your children's school, so what could be bad about that? It's a place where parents can make friends — yet another embraceable trait. But it can also be the source of power struggles, hurt feelings, and genuine discord.
Whether you're a newbie or a past president, we're sure you'll recognize some of these personalities from your regular monthly meetings. Just be sure to save us a seat near the action at the next one!

The Martyr Mom
She'll do it, but before she agrees, you'll hear about all of the sacrifices she has to make to do it for the school.

The Eternal President Mom
She says she's just there to help the school, but you know the truth. She loves having control of the PTA and the inside knowledge about everything happening inside the school. Don't try to run against her in next year's election!

The Principal's Pet Mom
She's just looking to get in good with the school's principal. If the principal says she won't be attending the meeting, don't expect to find this mom there either.

She has a reason to pooh-pooh every idea at every meeting but never has any ideas of her own.

The Bake Sale Mom
She must have Keebler elves living in her home because not only does she organize all of the bake sales throughout the year, but she also bakes all the treats herself.

She's always freaking out that there's not enough money and that programs will need to be cut.

She was the boss of her company but decided to stay home after having kids. Even though she's not the president, she still thinks she can boss everyone around.

The Mom Too Busy Doing Nothing
She's not officially on the PTA, but she comes to a few meetings. She really doesn't pay attention, she doesn't work, she doesn't volunteer, and if you ask, she'll tell you she's too busy. But no one's quite sure exactly what she's too busy doing except avoiding eye contact and standing in line at Starbucks.

The Best Friend Mom
She's best friends with all of the teachers — long after her kids have moved up to other grades — and is quick to provide you the latest gossip on all of them!
