In February 2017, the internet rallied together in support of an adorable couple's "it works" pregnancy announcement, which highlighted the fact that the father-to-be, Todd Krieg, is a paraplegic. Since Todd and his fiancée, Amanda Diesen, shared the announcement as well as a gender reveal photo, the couple has since welcomed their baby boy, Everett Jason Krieg, or "Rhett."

Amanda says that she and Todd love being parents to Rhett, who was born on Aug. 5. "Parenthood is the toughest yet most rewarding job," she told POPSUGAR. "Five months in, and we are extremely sleep-deprived, but more in love than ever. It's such an amazing thing seeing how much Todd adores and loves Rhett."

The couple originally met and fell for each other in California in October 2015, a year after a dirt bike crash that ended Todd's motocross career and paralyzed him from the chest down brought him to a paralysis recovery center, where Amanda was a therapist. Due to the nature of Todd's injuries, doctors were unsure the couple would ever be able to conceive, which made their viral pregnancy announcement that much sweeter. Although the new parents have faced a few struggles since welcoming Rhett, Todd has already overcome some of the obstacles that were thought to be in his way.

"I'm thankful that Todd can help out more than we originally thought," Amanda said. "Someone Todd knows who is also a father in a chair had told Todd he wouldn't be able to hold his son, but Todd holds Rhett daily, occasionally gives him a bottle, and I've made him change a few diapers. All of these, of course, require some help from someone else, but we are both glad Todd is able to at least hold our child."
