We may not have pockets as deep as them and would max out our credit cards if we even tried to re-create their outfits, but we'll always look to celebrities for fashion inspo. While some stars stay consistent with their looks, others are always changing it up, and for a few of those fashionistas, 2019 has proven to be their best style year yet. From bold new haircuts to complete wardrobe overhauls, we've rounded up the celebs who have had major fashion transitions in 2019 and who have provided us with some pretty important lessons (as well as several new additions to our Pinterest boards).

Anne Hathaway

Remember in The Devil Wears Prada when Andy Sachs transforms her look from huge bore to haute couture? Anne Hathaway in 2019 is basically Andy 2.0 every damn day. Though Anne's style has never been boring, she has certainly stepped up look after look this year, trading in her classic and timeless style for something a little more playful and edgy, both on the street and the red carpet. From her new '80s-inspired shag haircut to her unexpected accessories, Anne has proven the transformative powers of a few small details (especially when paired with a sharp, feminine two-piece suit).

Yara Shahidi

Yara Shahidi has never been shy when it comes to her fashion choices, but the 18-year-old Grown-ish star and budding style icon still manages to look cooler every time she steps out. We love that her style can't quite be pinned down (besides the fact that it's always vibrant, experimental, and enviable), and you might be surprised by the one element that all of her outfits share: comfort. "Of course, fashion is a form of expressing yourself," she revealed to Us Magazine, "and so I always find new pieces that speak to me, but being able to feel comfortable is everything." We can definitely get behind that.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett has had years in the spotlight to hone her personal style, but 2019 might be her best style year yet. Along with her newly chestnut-colored hair, Cate continues to reign as a fashion maverick rather than a follower of trends with her penchant for off-kilter designs. With Cate, you can always expect structural silhouettes, bold designs, and pairings that we would have never dreamed of doing ourselves, but that somehow work for her. If the Where'd You Go, Bernadette star has taught us anything, it's this: when it comes to fashion, don't be afraid to take risks.

Janelle Monáe

In the past, Janelle Monáe has been known for her structured and stylish suits and predominately black-and-white ensembles, but this year, the singer has been adding splashes of color to her scheme, as well as some more feminine pieces, since she no longer feels the need to hide herself behind the "protective armor" of androgynous outfits. As she explained to Rolling Stone, she used to feel as though she didn't look the way that a black female artist should, and her fashion choices "had to do with the fear of being judged." Rather than armor, she uses her clothes now to make a statement, and she's definitely not afraid to be exactly who she is anymore.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra always seems to be one step ahead of everyone else when it comes to fashion. We can always depend on the former Quantico star to wear something colorful and feminine, but this year has seen her wearing everything from asymmetrical hemlines to bodysuits to tweed skirt suits, reminding us that there's nothing wrong with giving your trademark style a little variety. She's taught us plenty of style lessons over the past few years, but our favorite lesson is probably this: in order to be ahead of the trends, you have to be the one who sets them.

Rowan Blanchard

She may only be 17, but Rowan Blanchard is already infinitely more stylish than we'll ever be. The Girl Meets World actress recently stepped up her style game with an incredibly chic new 'do, but she continues to prove that being a feminist doesn't mean you can't enjoy getting dolled up. As Rowan explained to InStyle, before this year, she "wasn't interested in being quote unquote beautiful," because she feared that wanting to look feminine meant sacrificing the right to call yourself a feminist. Now, she's finally found a balance with her style: quirky, girlie, but distinctly her own.

Sandra Oh

Though on Grey's Anatomy Sandra Oh sported scrubs more than anything else, her fashion game outside of Seattle Grace Hospital just continues to get bolder and better. Besides proving that curly-haired women can absolutely rock bangs, Sandra has made clear this year that it's never too late to make a fashion statement (or several). According to her, being 47 is way better than being 20 because taking risks feels less scary, especially when it comes to clothes. "At 47, it's like, 'You need me to put on a crazy dress with mirrors?'" she joked in an interview with InStyle. "'Yeah, sure, I'm going to work the sh*t out of this.'"

Charlize Theron

When it comes to her wardrobe, Charlize Theron has always been chic and sophisticated with a casual take on the latest trends. But in 2019, she's no longer playing it safe. From fun mix-and-match outfit combinations to those fake baby bangs she sported for the Long Shot premiere, Charlize constantly reminds us that any style choice you make doesn't have to be permanent, so why not try something new and unexpected? "I love that she is a risk-taker and explores different styles," her stylist Adir Abergel remarked, and we couldn't agree more.

Ashley Graham

Obviously we can always expect on-point fashion from the former InStyle "Great Style Has No Size" columnist, and Ashley Graham has recently adopted a more refined and elegant look, which is a big change from her former youthful midriff-baring style (don't worry, though — she's still showing off plenty of leg). The model could look gorgeous in a paper bag, but we're digging this transition from deep cleavage and cutouts to choices that are not as overtly sexy. After all, sexiness has nothing to do with how much skin you show, but how you carry yourself, and Ashley is certainly delivering with her new look.

Jaime King

Jaime King used to be the queen of boho-chic style, but after chopping her long hair, she's currently having an Elle Woods moment, and we definitely don't hate it. The actress and model doesn't make subtle transitions when it comes to her personal sense of style, preferring instead to throw herself head first into a new look without warning. As Jaime has said, "Style means sharing with the world who I am on every changing day without saying a word." Bottom line: your style is allowed to evolve over time, as you're always evolving yourself.
