Katharine McPhee Tried on Her American Idol Dress From '06 — How Are You Staying Busy?

We can always dig a good American Idol throwback moment, and Katharine McPhee just offered us our daily dose with a flashback to her season five performance of Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." The 36-year-old singer slipped into her plunging, button-front marigold halter dress that she wore during the memorable moment, posing with a microphone and all. "It's day 26 of quarantine and we're breaking out dresses from 14 years ago. Might have to resurrect this moment, on a red carpet, once we are out of this," she captioned her Instagram, referring to the shelter-in-place mandate we have all been experiencing.

Of course, this spontaneous fashion moment sparked plenty of comments from fans and Katharine's famous friends, like Katie Couric, who wrote, "I could not fit into a dress from two years ago," and Amber Farr, designer of bohemian dress label Flynn Skye: "That dress is fire."

We love that Katharine brought a little cheer to her feed by posting a photo of the look. Anyway, if you don't take a picture of yourself in a dress from 14 years ago, did you even really rewear it at all? Keep reading to see Katharine's 'gram, which will now help her yellow dress go down in history, then get an all-angles view of Katharine debuting it on American Idol. Will it show up on a red carpet in the future? Only time will tell.
