The Queer Eye Guys Name Their All-Time Favorite Outfits of Season 5
Queer Eye's Fab Five are a continuous source of inspiration season after season, but you already knew that. It's not just the people whose lives they touch in every episode who take their advice to heart — it's us, too. And personally, I've been nothing but awed by Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, Jonathan Van Ness, and Antoni Porowski's unique senses of style throughout season five, which was just nominated for seven 2020 Emmy Awards. Tan, with his rhinestone Gucci platform sneakers, and Karamo, with his self-made slogan tees and designer belts, have become iconic — and every one of the guys has his own take on the most sublime co-ords, whether it's Bobby's foil-esque track set or Antoni's flashy metallic pink pantsuit.
Even though Tan is the hero in the wardrobe department during their makeover sessions, the rest of the crew clearly have an eye for style and were more than willing to share their own personal fashion perspectives for this past season. I talked to Tan (fashion), Karamo (culture), Antoni (food and wine), and Bobby (interior design), who were all nominated for Emmy Awards in the outstanding host category, and they filled me in on their favorite outfits in recent history. Scroll through to find out why they wear what they wear when they're uplifting others, and learn which memorable closet pieces they certainly won't forget.
Tan calls his style "considered" for season five, naming this dusty-blue suit and white bootie look and this lightweight white blouse as two of his favorite outfits. He also loves the leather shirt he wears to help Noah shop in episode one.
Karamo makes his own empowering slogan tees that he regularly rocks with glasses and a baseball cap. His designer belts, like the above Hermès one and the Gucci style he wears later, work to elevate his look. Karamo's favorite tees of season five are the ones that say "Mental Health Matters," "Made By Immigrants," and "Black Gay Gifted."
Antoni wears his favorite piece of the season, the Omega Seamaster watch with a colorful NATO strap, in plenty of episodes. Two of his most memorable outfit combos? The Strokes tee and Scottish kilt pairing from episode three, which honors Kevin's family tradition, and the LANY sweatshirt he wears with J Brand jeans turned into jorts and a children's XXL Stegosaurus Rex helmet in episode five. If he had to summarize his style in one word, it'd be "comfort."
Bobby describes his style as "relaxed," and two of his favorite looks from season five — the 3.1 Phillip Lim co-ords (at left) and black-and-white polka-dot button-down (at right) — completely fit the bill.
