I used to feel ashamed in the wounds I wore, fearing they blemished my own reflection. I worried about what others had to say, and the oftentimes abrupt conclusiveness that would follow. I feared that yesterday’s pain would haunt me forever, limiting my own healing by the implications these scars carried. But no matter the effort in masking these so-called flaws, nothing could conceal the underlying lack of self-acceptance. I write this today boldly, as I have seen and embraced the blessings within my personal journey of growth. I see symbol in my own healing, one that claims strength in survival, and blessings within imperfection.
