I Tried All 32 Flavors of GT's Kombucha, and These Are the Absolute Best

While there are many excellent kombucha brands on the market, GT's Kombucha is what you'll most often find in my fridge. In part because it is widely available — I can even pick up a bottle at Duane Reade — but also because the brand offers up a diverse roster of exciting, bold flavors I love. As both a curious customer and a food writer, I recently made it my mission to try the entire GT's roster: a whopping 32 varieties (excluding the chia drinks and kefir).

A quick note on GT's different lines of kombucha before we begin: Classic Kombucha and Classic Synergy contain between .25 and 1.0 percent alcohol, and they are only available to customers 21 and over, while Enlightened Kombucha and Enlightened Synergy are considered alcohol-free with less than .5 percent alcohol. Synergy is the brand's designation for flavors with a larger percentage of fruit juice, and thus a sweeter, smoother finish. Synergy is a great place to start if you're new to the fizzy, probiotic-rich functional beverage. These nine are my absolute favorites.

GT's Enlightened Kombucha Tantric Turmeric

Get your turmeric and probiotic fix in one zingy package with this carrot-, ginger-, and turmeric-enhanced kombucha. Perhaps it's a bit of placebo effect going on, but this flavor feels the most revitalizing to me.

For many, myself included, GT's Enlightened Synergy Trilogy was the gateway kombucha. Fruity, super tart, and ginger-tingly, it is easy to love (and also easy to spike with a bit of vodka for a cocktail). I prefer this take on the Trilogy flavor to the Classic version, which can lean toward overly vinegary.

For something a bit less sweet-leaning, try GT's Classic Kombucha Gingerade. Both citrus- and ginger-forward, it is one of the better ginger kombuchas I've tried, and I've tried many brands' takes on this flavor.

GT's Enlightened Synergy Mystic Mango

Almost candy-like (think Mango Hi-Chew) in its sweetness while still low-sugar, GT's Enlightened Synergy Mystic Mango is like the nectar of a perfectly ripe Ataulfo mango spritzed with lime.

I wouldn't blame you for trying this hibiscus-based flavor for its gorgeous deep-pink hue alone; thankfully, it also tastes great. Well balanced and fruity, it's like a tart, much-less-sweet jamaica agua fresca, which makes sense since "jamaica" is the Spanish word for "hibiscus."

If I had to pick one GT's flavor to crown as my favorite, GT's Classic Synergy Divine Grape would be it. With major grape-soda vibes, it feels decadent, potent, and refreshing at once.

GT's Enlightened Synergy Guava Goddess

Guava is not a flavor you see much of in the US, which is a shame, as this floral-leaning tropical fruit is easy to love. GT's does it right with this juicy bottle.

GT's Classic Synergy Euphoria

GT's Classic Synergy Euphoria is reminiscent of the notorious Master Cleanse cayenne lemonade in a good way (in other words, it hurts so good). A generous dose of ginger and cayenne tingle in an assertively pleasant way, and they're sure to wake you up. It's similar to the Cayennade bottle but has a rounder flavor, thanks to a splash of pomegranate juice.

GT's Enlightened Synergy Passionberry Bliss

GT's Enlightened Synergy Passionberry Bliss is like drinking an a.m.-appropriate, nonalcoholic tiki drink. (On that note, it would probably make for an excellent easy cocktail, mixed with a bit of rum or tequila.)
