"I have to start my day with a good cup of coffee," Harris says. "Nothing's worse than waking up and putting gasoline in your mouth." Krieger laughs and nods her head in agreement with her wife, making it clear this is something she understands intimately. "Quality coffee just sets me up for success for the rest of the day," Harris continues.
And she isn't just rolling up to Starbucks before practice. "I order and grind own my beans," Harris admits, somewhat sheepishly. "Listen, I'm nuts." The family has a monthly subscription of five pounds of Onyx Coffee Lab's Southern Weather Whole Beans ($98), which is the brand's "House" filter option and what they brew in their own cafes. But both say Harris wasn't always a coffee nut. "It's been a lot of trials and let's just say I'm not going to the grocery store and picking it off the shelf and putting it in my coffee maker," Harris says. "I just can't, even the smell of it makes me — oof!"
Pro Tip: Grind the beans at home, because that's when you'll understand Harris' obsession with freshness. "They're always like, 'Can we grind your beans?' No, you can't, thank you," Harris says.
