Somewhere between sour cream and crème fraîche, Mexican crema is a slightly sour, cooling, and creamy condiment. Ideal for dolloping over tacos and soups, this rich dip knows how to make mouths water. The best thing about this thickened cream is that it's really easy to make at home, so you can have it on hand anytime the craving strikes. From taco Tuesday to nights when all you want is a hefty burrito, this Mexican crema recipe will be there for it all. (Basically, any Mexican-inspired cuisine can benefit from a dash of crema!) Add it to any and all of your favorite bites, and enjoy a meal at home like never before.

- 1 cup heavy cream
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
- Combine the ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk until smooth. Cover and let sit at room temperature for 3 hours.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy, or place in the refrigerator until ready to use. The crema will last as long as the sour cream that is used, so pay attention to the expiration date on the sour cream container. Let come to room temperature before eating.
Makes about 2 cups.
