Unicorn Oreo Candy Bars Might Never Exist, but Damn, Do They Taste Good

Oreo does a pretty amazing job of coming up with the wackiest possible flavors, and it even turns to its own fans for inspiration. The 2017 My Oreo Creation contest allowed anyone to submit Oreo cookie flavor ideas, most of which will likely never exist but many of which Oreo created prototypes of anyway. Among some of the never-before-seen creations Oreo dreamed up are chocolate candy bars just like the Milka Oreo Candy Bar, but in creative flavors like Unicorn, Millennial Pink, and Mermaid (surprise, surprise!). Oreo sent POPSUGAR a handful of samples of these candy bars, and our Oreo-obsessed editors couldn't wait to discover how they really taste. We're not saying Oreo will ever release a unicorn-flavored candy bar, but you never know — read on to discover what it and all the other trendy flavors actually taste like.

Unicorn

Unicorn

It's a no-brainer that Oreo would want to get in on the official food craze of 2017 aka unicorn. But what does Oreo's version of a unicorn actually taste like? Well, the brand opted not to incorporate any new flavors but went with pastel blue and pink coloring instead. The package labels the filling as "blue and pink artificially flavored vanilla cream," and even though we know it's artificial, we think it's damn good. "Those are deadly — so good. Tastes like cake," one of our trusty reviewers said.

Millennial Pink

Millennial Pink

Holy flavor overload! Like Unicorn, we weren't sure how Oreo would decide to flavor something called Millennial Pink. Oreo went with a berry-flavored filling, and it reminds us of raspberry buttercream frosting. The rich, bright pink berry filling combined with the crunchy chocolate cookie pieces is a winning combination, and we'd totally buy this if it were in stores. "SUCH a good mix of berry and chocolate," someone said in praise.

Summer Black Out

Summer Black Out

The flavor with the oddest name but one of the best tastes is the Summer Black Out Oreo Chocolate Candy Bar, a triple-chocolate combo of a milk chocolate exterior, soft chocolate interior, and chocolate cookie pieces. "Great mixture of crunchy and chocolate," one reviewer said, while another noted that the creamy chocolate filling reminds her of a chocolate ganache truffle. Yum!

Mermaid

Mermaid

Welcome to 2017, where mermaid-themed food is a totally acceptable food group. Oreo's Mermaid Chocolate Candy Bar gives us aquatic vibes with its green and (glittery!) blue filling, and the flavor itself is the best part — pink lemonade. It really does taste exactly like pink lemonade, equal parts tart and sweet. "Tastes a bit like Trix cereal! Love the color," one reviewer said.

Firework

Firework

Firework Oreos were introduced over the Summer, so we weren't surprised to see this as one of Oreo's ideas for a candy bar, too. We were pleasantly surprised that the popping candy in the creme filling is much more prominent than it is in the cookie, and we felt a tingle on our tongues with every bite. By far one of the most fun flavors Oreo has come up with, Firework would no doubt be a popular candy bar flavor.

New York Cheesecake

New York Cheesecake

Oreo has yet to introduce a cheesecake-flavored cookie, but if this is any indication of a possible flavor in the future, we'll go ahead and sign up for 10 packages. The Oreo New York Cheesecake Chocolate Candy Bar — while artificially flavored, as expected — is downright phenomenal. It really does taste like cheesecake, and it reminds us of a slice of the dessert topped with Oreo chunks. The comment that best sums up all of our feelings is, "Loved them all, especially the cheesecake."
