Food Network's Lineup of Halloween Shows Is Scary Good, and We Can't Wait For Freakshow Cakes
We love baking shows all year round (they're truly like a warm, comforting hug), but they're especially fun to watch when they're centered on a holiday (namely: Halloween). It's always impressive to watch chefs, bakers, and pumpkin carvers battle it out on cooking shows to whip up something for the spooky season that looks amazing and slightly terrifying, and the creativity never ceases to amaze us. Food Network in particular is stacked with thematic shows for Halloween, as the network does a great job of blending baking with entertainment for ridiculously impressive shows year after year. While many productions were put on hold this year, Food Network thankfully has a few new ones to watch throughout September and October to get you into the spooky spirit. From Halloween Baking Championship to Halloween Wars, check out the lineup ahead, and set your DVR to capture all the frighteningly good confectionary creations!
Halloween Baking Championship
Halloween Baking Championship is back! Each week, bakers will have to create decadent and beautiful Halloween creations following whatever theme or guideline they're given. The winner will receive a $25,000 prize. There will also be a special episode after the premiere to highlight past winners.

Alyson Hannigan hosts this new show for the season. On Outrageous Pumpkins, seven pumpkin-carving experts will have to create elaborate pumpkin displays — on a pumpkin playground — each week to compete for the $25,000 prize.

Worst Cooks in America: Halloween Redemption

Halloween Freakshow Cakes
It's all about making a cake worthy of a carnival sideshow on this Halloween show. Halloween Freakshow Cakes will see bakers attempt to make their most impressive cakes that are both wild and visually stunning. The winner will take home $10,000.
How to watch: On Food Network, Sundays starting Oct. 18 at 10 p.m.
Halloween Wars actually comes in three parts: Road to Halloween Wars, Halloween Wars, and Halloween Wars: Legends. Road to Halloween Wars will be a precursor to the actual show and give some background on the pumpkin carvers and confectionary experts. The premiere of Halloween Wars will air right after the preview special and feature teams going head to head to put together giant Halloween creations using both pumpkin carvings and confectionary work like baking, chocolates, and sugar. The winning team will take home $50,000. After the season concludes, Halloween Wars: Legends will air and pit past champions against each other to compete for a $20,000 prize.
How to watch: On Food Network, Sundays starting Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. ET for Road to Halloween Wars, and Halloween Wars will air at 9 p.m. ET each week.
