Indiana: Sugar Cream Pie

Hoosier pie, also known as Indiana sugar cream pie, has been around since the 1800s. When apples were not available, the Shaker and Amish communities filled the pie crust with vanilla cream and sprinkled it with brown sugar to develop a slightly crunchy topping when baked.
