Vegan Cauliflower "Chicken Wings" in Honey BBQ Sauce Recipe

Pass the Napkins! Things Are Gonna Get Messy With These Vegan Honey BBQ "Chicken Wings"

Spicy, sweet, or just plain delicious, chicken wings can make an appearance at just about any party or meal and chances are I won't be disappointed. From the looks of 'em, I could say the same for these vegan cauliflower "chicken wings." Made by social media foodie Angie Quibrera, the nontraditional wings recipe calls for a medium head of cauliflower coated in panko and a tangy honey BBQ sauce that already has me trying to reach through my laptop screen to try one for myself.

Since the "wings" are made out of cauliflower, this delicious-looking treat also counts as a serving of vegetables, and I'm pretty sure just looking at these turned me into a vegetarian for a minute. So check out the full recipe here, and be sure to grab a few napkins before digging in.

Vegan Cauliflower "Chicken Wings" in Honey BBQ Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  1. For the "Chicken Wings":
    1 medium head of cauliflower
    1 cup nondairy milk
    3/4 cups flour
    1 cup (approximately) panko
    2 teaspoons onion powder
    2 teaspoons garlic powder
    1 teaspoon paprika
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    Pepper to taste
  1. For the BBQ Sauce:
Premade BBQ sauce of your choice
    Honey or agave syrup

Directions

  1. Wash and cut the head of cauliflower into about 30 florets. Dry the florets and place them on a greased baking tray or a tray lined with aluminum foil.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients and spices in a bowl. Next, add the nondairy milk and whisk until the batter is fully combined.
  3. Using your fingers or a pair of tongs, dip each floret into the batter until fully coated, then coat each floret in panko. Repeat until all the florets are evenly coated and space them out evenly on the tray. Bake for 25 minutes at 450°F.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the premade BBQ sauce and honey or agave syrup. Coat each floret in the sauce and shake lightly to remove any excess coating before placing them back onto the tray. Bake for 20 more minutes. Once the "wings" are out of the oven and have cooled, serve them with vegan ranch dressing or any dip of your choice and enjoy!
