10 Reasons Being Home Alone Is the Frickin' Best
Being home alone is one of the most blissful perks of being an adult. No matter what your home is like — a studio apartment you share with your partner, a house filled with six roommates, or your childhood bedroom back home with your parents — if you share space with anyone else, getting alone time in that space is heavenly. Before my current living situation, I lived alone in small studio apartments for two years. I love my housemates, but the past eight months of my life have given me a newfound appreciation for alone time, even if it's just having the room to myself for a few minutes. Finding yourself in an empty house is a much-needed and deserved reprise from thinking about others and allows you to focus on yourself. Keep reading for 10 perks of having the place all to yourself.
You Can Pamper Yourself Without Judgement
It's finally time to try all the hair and skincare products you've felt too ridiculous to do with people around!
You Can Enjoy the Silence
Finally, you remember what it's like to have some peace and quiet.
You Can Meditate
Use this rare moment of silence to truly be alone with your thoughts and center yourself. You never know the next time you'll get the chance.
You Can Get Private Phone Calls Out of the Way
Whether you need to call your doctor, therapist, or bank, being home alone can be the best time to get these tasks over with, especially since you don't have to worry about other people listening in and can even put your phone on speaker while you do other things.
You Can Blast Your Music as Loud as You Want
If you're not feeling the silence, get your groove on without headphones for once!
You Can Be Creative
It's hard to get into a creative headspace when there are other people around to distract you all the time. Use your time alone to tap into your artistic side.
The TV Is All Yours
You don't have to share the TV, so binge-watch all the shows you know no one else will want to watch.
You Can Get Squeaky Clean
Being home alone is the perfect time for a bath or shower. No one is going to barge in to ask you anything, get mad you're hogging the hot water and making their shower cold, or ask you when you'll be done because they have to go. Take as long as you want.
You Can Let Out Your Inner Chef
Avoid everyone trying to cook at the same time later by doing some meal prepping now. SO much easier (and less stressful).
You Can Sleep Anywhere and Everywhere
Now is the time to nap on your favorite couch or catch up on the shut-eye you lose by sleeping next to a snorer. Just because you're home alone doesn't mean you have to do anything. Sometimes, the only thing you need in the calm before the storm is rest.
