A Mom Shared Her Son's Medical Bill to Show How the New Health Care Bill Could Jeopardize His Life

It can be easy to get lost in the political discussions around the new healthcare bill, but one mom is bringing attention back to whose lives could be affected by it. Mom Ali Chandra started with her own son, Ethan Vikash.

"It seems fitting that, with the #TrumpCare debate raging, I got this bill in the mail today from Ethan's most recent open heart surgery," Twitter user aliranger29 wrote along with a photo of the costly medical bill. "I'll save you some math; without insurance we would owe $231,115 for 10 hours in the OR, 1 week in the CICU and 1 week on the cardiac floor."

The loving mom went on to share how expensive it is for Ethan to survive with his heart condition when you factor in the amount of surgeries and medication he has to take. "We also regularly see a local cardiologist, and electrophysiologist for his pacemaker, a pediatrician, & immunology for his polysplenia," she wrote. "He takes 5 different prescription medications multiple times a day. All of this adds up. None of this would be possible without insurance."

Read on to see her entire heart-crushing plea to Trump and the Republican party to reconsider their new health care bill, specifically reinstating a lifetime cap on benefits that could be detrimental to little Ethan's health.
