On March 10, hundreds of Native Americans protested outside of the White House to make their voices heard loud and clear regarding Trump's controversial decision to go forward with the Dakota Access Pipeline. The proposed pipeline would travel across the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's main source of water located under the Missouri River to transport crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois. The Sioux believe the pipeline would endanger their clean water resources if the pipes were to experience an oil leak.

The protesters reportedly chanted, "You can't drink oil, keep it in the soil," as they made their way from the US Army Corps of Engineers headquarters to the White House. Back in December, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe announced the Army halted construction of the pipeline, which was widely condemned by activists and celebrities alike. Their victory was short-lived when a permit for the pipeline was approved by the deputy secretary of the Army earlier this year.

As the resistance continues, see some of the most powerful moments from the Native Nations March on Washington ahead.
