Pot That Waters Your Plants

You'll Never Kill a Plant Again Thanks to This Genius Invention

Raise your hand if you can't keep a plant alive for the life of you. For those who didn't even hesitate, there's good news. A company called Parrot (mostly known for its drones) has heard your cries and come up with a genius solution: watering your plants for you.

You may already be familiar with Flower Power, Parrot's smart device that tracks soil moisture, fertility, temperature, and light in plants. But it's releasing a newer Bluetooth-powered version that has more accurate tracking and features watering capabilities. Even better: it comes with a hidden ceramic pot that holds the two liters of water and releases it through four water spouts.

How does it work? The device uses its knowledge of more than 7,000 plants to detect when yours is thirsty and how much water should be released. There's even a conservation mode that releases only the amount of water necessary to keep the plant alive if you're not able to refill the water. You can connect it to your smartphone using an app to see all the details. Here's a preview we got a last year's Consumer Electronics Show.

At this year's show, the company announced it will start selling the pot in April for $200. Expect it to keep plants alive for weeks at a time, which means you can take that vacation without fear of coming back to dead leaves. Or that you can keep on neglecting your plants even when you're home like the rest of us.
