Queen Letizia's Cobalt Blue Gown Looks Simple — Until You Look at It From the Side

Queen Letizia of Spain has set the bar pretty high when it comes to her fashion choices in 2017. The royal made her first official appearance of the year at the Pascua Militar ceremony at the Royal Palace in Madrid in a long-sleeved cobalt blue crewneck dress from (who else?) Spanish designer Felipe Varela.

At first glance, and looking at her straight on, the queen's dress might look simple, made of denim-like fabric with dainty gold details around the waist. It's all about the sides, though, which featured beautiful floral embroidery from shoulder to hem that made the gown special.

Letizia paired the stunning dress with a matching clutch and Magrit pumps, keeping her hair up in a loose ballerina bun and allowing the dress to be the center of attention. Keep reading to see more photos of the gown and to see how dapper her husband King Felipe VI looked, too.
