14 Stunning Celebrity Cuts That Inspired Us to Go Shorter in 2015

Many women have thought about taking the plunge and chopping off their long strands at one time or another — either out of frustration or mere curiosity. But committing to a chop is much easier said than done. Whether your hair is at your shoulders, midback, or practically Rapunzel status, it can be downright terrifying to put the future of your locks in someone else's hands.

But more and more celebrities are showing us that rocking a short hairstyle is not only easier to maintain but also downright fierce! There have been some chic long bobs (lobs), bobs, and pixie cuts gracing Hollywood recently, and if these stars don't convince you to make a date with a pair of scissors, nothing will.

Celebrity stylist Jen Atkin got her hands on Jenna's hair in November and taught us a thing or two about playing up texture — even with supershort strands.

Khloé tends to have the lightest locks in the family, but in October she also became the sister with the shortest! She showed off the blunt lob (courtesy of BFF stylist Jen Atkin) at Kim's baby shower. Khloé's mane is proof that it's worth trying something new when you feel stuck in your comfort zone.

Ashley is known for her long, blond hair — thanks to her High School Musical Sharpay days — but she showed us that playing with color and cut is fun! The star spilled that she wanted to try something different after wrapping up filming for the first season of ABC Family's Clipped in July. Celebrity stylist and colorist Kristin Ess can take all of the credit for these shorter, strawberry bronde strands!

Take a page out of this Skinnygirl's book! As she transformed her mane from simple waves to a sophisticated bob, Bethenny rocked shorter hair with confidence. Hairstylist DJ Quintero took this The Real Housewives of New York star's style to the next level back in May.

Emma's long hair never seems to last for long! We're envious of — and inspired by — her fearlessness. In early December, she took the plunge again by switching her brunette tresses to a shorter, lighter 'do. If you're feeling extradaring, pull an Emma and switch up the cut and color.

It was only in November that Alessandra opted for a shorter style, but her new look is stunning. Practically anyone can rock this flattering cut, because it's not too short or too long. Hey, if it's good enough for a Victoria's Secret Angel, it's good enough for us!

Gigi Hadid

One of the newest Victoria's Secret models nearly broke the Internet when she walked the red carpet of the 2015 American Music Awards with a dramatically shorter style. Her stylist Bryce Scarlett later revealed that her new cropped coif came courtesy of a very sleek half wig. We hope that Gigi takes the plunge for real someday, because this is a killer cut!

When the "Dark Horse" singer sported a pixie-cut wig for a Moschino campaign early this year, she could have been Kris Jenner's doppelgänger. Katy ended up chopping her hair off for real to a length that just barely brushed her shoulders.

If there's one thing that Kylie is known for (other than her lips, of course), it's her bold hairstyle switches. The youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan tested a bob in October and looked incredible — serious short-cut inspiration!

Worried that pairing bangs with short hair will be too dramatic? The leading lady in Fifty Shades of Grey proved that it can be done (and look amazing!) when she stepped out of an NYC salon with a lob in April. Even the dominating Christian Grey would approve.

The Mindy Project's creator gave us serious life with this bob/sideswept bang combo that she flaunted in May. If you're nervous about the styling limitations of short strands, this look is evidence that long bangs can help you switch it up!

But really, can Jennifer Lopez ever do wrong? (Answer: nope.) She exemplified how sexy short hair can be when she revealed her fresh cut in May. Maybe she was inspired by her character in the new TV drama Shades of Blue.

Kate proved that opting for a lob makes shorter hair doable — and less of a commitment! Her hair was snipped by David Babaii for the first day of filming in May for The Long Night.

How short will she go? Lena demonstrated that any girl can pull off a fierce pixie cut when she debuted her bold style on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in March.
