This Genius Hack Will Give You Rainbow Strands Without a Drop of Hair Dye

The results of permanently tinted rainbow hair are absolutely mesmerizing. However, if you're hesitant about coloring your strands, we totally get it — dyeing your mane is a huge commitment.

Luckily, a new hack has hit YouTube, making it possible to color your strands without using an ounce of bleach (or messy hair chalk). All you need to achieve the rainbow hues are crepe paper and a handful of household items.

YouTube personality RealAsianBeauty showed off the method using the crepe paper, warm water, salt, a bowl, and gloves. The process was simple: After combining a sprinkle of salt and hot water in a bowl, she soaked strips of the colorful paper. The liquid soon turned the color of the crepe, and she dipped her strands in the bowl for 15 minutes. She finished by shampooing, conditioning, and styling as usual — leaving her hair with a soft ombré rainbow effect.

Depending on how often you wash and condition, the color should last at least a week. You'll trick all your friends into thinking you spent hours at the salon, but you'll know you didn't make the time or color commitment! This is also a great way to experiment with various hues before deciding if you will officially go rainbow.
