YouTube’s own Marlena created Makeup Geek in 2008, and the response has been only supportive for the vibrant collection. Most of the line consists of eye shadows in every color imaginable from neutral eye shadows to color-shifting and glinty pigments. Although the line is on the new side, devotees of MUG include Katie of Lustrelux, Dani Mansatti, and Jackie Aina, who have all featured its products in at least one tutorial on their channels.
Most recently, MUG introduced glitter-packed Sparklers ($10) and the almost-sold-out Duochrome Pigment in Insomnia ($12), which caught our attention immediately. Its texture is silky smooth, and the red-brown base balances out the bright-blue shades it’s infused with to create a unique metallic color that is bold but still wearable. For the ultimate MUG starter kit, consider one of the many color-filled Eyeshadow Pan Bundles ($30-$60) and the Eye Brush Set ($43) to tap into your inner makeup artist.
