Avril Lavigne and Tyga Spend Fourth of July Weekend Together After Rumored Split

Don't count Avril Lavigne and Tyga's relationship out just yet! Despite reports in late June that the musical pair's relationship fizzled out, their joint Fourth of July festivities suggest that they're still very close.

Not only were Lavigne and Tyga spotted hanging out together in Las Vegas over the weekend in photos obtained by People, but the publication also reported that they spent the Fourth of July partying together at Nobu restaurant in Malibu. The pair even took the time to film a fun TikTok video dancing together to Tyga's new song "Bops Goin Crazy" in matching white outfits.

Lavigne and Tyga's holiday weekend together follows June 20 reports that their low-key romance had ended after roughly three months of dating. TMZ reported that the pair split in early June after "the romance just ran its course," adding the decision was "mutual" and there are "no hard feelings." At this point, it's unclear if the pair are just hanging out as friends, have reunited romantically, or never broke up in the first place. Reps for Lavigne and Tyga did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR's request for comment on their relationship status.

Speculation that Lavigne and Tyga were dating began on Feb. 20 when photos of the musicians hugging outside of Nobu in Los Angeles were published by TMZ. The pair were also spotted out on multiple occasions showing PDA at events and on dates.

Lavigne and Tyga's relationship was reportedly always casual. "They're still not exclusive and just getting to know each other," a source told People at the end of March. "They're taking things very slowly to be on the safe side and really get to know each other before diving into something serious."

Most of the drama surrounding Lavigne and Tyga's romance involved Lavigne's ex-fiancé Mod Sun, who Lavigne started dating in early 2021 and got engaged to in March 2022. The pair reportedly experienced turbulence in their relationship beginning in 2023, with a source telling People in February that they'd been "on and off for the past two months." A source confirmed to POPSUGAR on Feb. 21 that Mod Sun and Lavigne had officially split after two years of dating.

Sun seemingly had a hard time with Lavigne moving on with Tyga. In footage obtained by TMZ from a March 15 show at Irving Plaza in New York, rapper Travie McCoy performed the Gym Class Heroes song "Cupid's Chokehold," during which he called Sun "one of the three most loyal" people he knows and yelled, "F*ck Tyga!" as Sun stood by without protest.

However, Lavigne and Tyga were unbothered by Sun and his friend's antics as they were spotted holding hands the next day on a date night at restaurant Catch Steak in West Hollywood.
