10 Things You Should Know About Greta Gerwig— Including Her First Kiss!

Although Greta Gerwig didn't win the coveted award for best director in 2018 for Lady Bird at the Oscars, she did break an eight-year streak where no woman was nominated in this category.

Greta Gerwig blames her love for the song on being "one of those teenage girls who think knowing all the words to this song will guarantee you a boyfriend until you realize about 30 seconds too late that it won't." She may have the boyfriend part locked down now, but I think we all would still be interested in hearing Greta sing karaoke to Billy Joel.

In the black-and-white comedy, Greta Gerwig's real-life parents, Gordon and Christine Gerwig, portrayed her character's parents. Neither her mom nor dad had had any acting experiencing prior to this movie. Greta was nominated for a Golden Globe in the best actress category for her role as Frances Ha.

It wasn't until 2010 when she hit mainstream filmmaking after starring in Greenberg. It was also on set of this film where she met her partner, Noah Baumbach.

When asked what she thinks about the internet, Greta Gerwig compared herself to an old man. In a Screen Test with W magazine, Greta said, "I am actually worried about what it is doing to our brain and our sense of connection. I just worry that it is actually making people more lonely than it is bringing people joy."
