LaKeith Stanfield Is a Protective Dad of 3 — What We Know About His Kids

LaKeith Stanfield has become a hot commodity in Hollywood over the last few years. The Oscar-nominated actor, 32, has had notable roles in everything from "Uncut Gems," "Get Out," and "Atlanta" to "Judas and the Black Messiah" and 2023's "The Haunted Mansion." So naturally, people have taken an interest in Stanfield's personal life, which includes being a father of three and a husband to his wife, model Kasmere Trice. The pair, who quietly wed in 2023, share one child together, whom they also welcomed this year.

Stanfield has two older daughters from previous relationships, though not much is known about them since the "Changeling" actor prefers to keep them away from the spotlight. However, he recently got candid about how fatherhood has changed him since expanding his family again. He told People in an interview published in July, "The connection with my kids is something unlike any I've ever had in my life."

He continued, "I'm truly concerned about their wellbeing and that I want them to do well, to be well, to feel well in the world, and that's a unique thing. I know for me growing up, I didn't always feel like I had that. I didn't really have a figure that was a male that was in my life that I felt I could depend on and count on . . . The unconditional love from my children boosts my self-esteem and provides a strong sense of belonging."

Read ahead for everything else we know about Stanfield's three kids.

LaKeith Stanfield's First Child

Stanfield welcomed his first child, a daughter whom he shares with "The Mindy Project" actor Xosha Roquemore, in June 2017. The former couple have been extremely private about her, and Stanfield even declined to share her name with The Hollywood Reporter in 2020, saying, "I don't really talk about her a lot." People reported at the time of his daughter's birth that Roquemore had posted a Twitter photo of her nursing her newborn with the caption "Mom" but subsequently deleted it.

Roquemore first showed her baby bump when she walked the red carpet at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and later confirmed the news for International Women's Day by baring her belly in a since-deleted Instagram photo. "I am WOMBMAN," she captioned the snap.

Stanfield and Roquemore made their red carpet debut together in August 2015 when they attended the LA premiere of his film "Straight Outta Compton." It's unclear when and why the pair broke up.

LaKeith Stanfield's Second Child

Though Stanfield has never explicitly talked about his second child, another daughter, speculation surfaced in late December 2022 when artist Tylor Hurd shared a since-deleted Instagram video that alleged they'd welcomed a child that year. "Decided to leave being someone's secret family in 2022... meet Apollo Stanfield," she captioned her post, per Vibe. The "Book of Clarence" actor seemingly confirmed his second daughter's existence when speaking to People, as he said, "It's so important for my girls to know that they are beautiful people in this world that consistently is trying to tell them otherwise. I tell them every single day, I don't care how annoying it gets."

LaKeith Stanfield's Third Child

Like his other children, Stanfield has yet to reveal the name of his third child, though he shared the first photos of them with People. He also hasn't confirmed their sex yet, as Trice told People, "We decided early on we wanted to protect our baby as much as we can for as long as possible." Stanfield added: ". . . There needs to be things that exist that are sacred and not for consumption for everybody. We want to be the ones to tell our story. We're bringing our family forward so we may inspire others."
