Charlotte Summers may be 13 years old, but she has the voice of a much older soul. The teen impressed America's Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, and Howie Mandel and guest judge Jay Leno during Tuesday night's episode with her powerhouse cover of Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me." This classic song certainly isn't an easy one to tackle, but Charlotte made it look effortless as she belted out the high notes with ease.
"We've asked all these other acts why they're so nervous, and I get it now. It's because they've heard you," Cowell said at the end of her performance. During her audition, Summers admitted she's a huge fan of Cowell, so this compliment carried a lot of sweet significance.
Thanks to her insane abilities, Summers made it past the judges' cuts and to the next round. That means we'll get to see more of her talents and hear more of her incredible voice as the season progresses. (Hooray! Do you think she takes requests?) As amazing as Charlotte is, though, we know that she has some stiff competition thanks to fellow contestants like Mackenzie, Benicio Bryant, and the military singing group Voices of Service. No matter what happens, we have our fingers crossed for her!
