From Briefcases to Suits: A Brief History of Meghan Markle's Career

One bright spot in what feels like the unending year of awfulness is the fact that American actress Meghan Markle just got engaged to Prince Harry in what is truly a real-life fairy tale. The two are to be wed in Spring 2018, and when she joins the royal family, she will be known as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Fancy! If you're wondering what the marvelous Ms. Markle is all about, allow us to introduce you to some of her fine work.

Her biggest project to date is starring on USA's legal dramedy Suits, which she's been on since 2011. The show is still going, but her departure at the end of the current season has been confirmed — she'll obviously be pretty busy doing duchess-related things in the United Kingdom.

During Suits' various hiatuses, Markle has found time to shoot a couple adorable Hallmark movies, Dater's Handbook and When Sparks Fly.

Markle can also be seen playing a FedEx employee in the 2011 film Horrible Bosses and appearing as Sleeping Beauty in an episode of Castle — which shows she was obviously princess material all along. Prior to all that, Markle's biggest gigs were appearing on a couple two-episode arcs for Fringe and 90210 (the reboot, not to be confused with the original Beverly Hills, 90201).

But perhaps the most amazing project on her résumé is when Markle was a briefcase model for Deal or No Deal when the show first launched. She appeared in over 30 episodes between 2006 and 2007.

From briefcase model to duchess — somebody get Hallmark on the line.
