Mya Taylor Spirit Awards Acceptance Speech

Mya Taylor's History-Making Acceptance Speech Will Move You to Tears

Mya Taylor took the stage at the Spirit Awards in Santa Monica on Saturday evening to accept the award for best supporting actress for her role in Tangerine. On top of delivering a moving speech, Mya made history by being the first transgender actress to ever win a major film award. Not only did she thank her partner and team for their support, but her acceptance speech was all about supporting the transgender community. Before wrapping up, Mya had a special message for filmmakers: "There is transgender talent. There's very beautiful transgender talent, so you better get out there and put it in your next movie." Watch Mya's inspiring speech above, and then check out all the winners from the night.
